Our Programs
The Garlington Foundation is developing a continuum of community-based services designed to help individuals build independence, achieve meaningful employment, strengthen everyday life skills, and experience greater connection within their communities.
Our current program development is centered on supported employment and community support services for individuals with intellectual and developmental challenges and transition-age youth. Through a person-centered, hands-on approach, we are building services that support individuals in identifying their strengths, preparing for employment, obtaining meaningful jobs, developing workplace skills, and maintaining long-term success in integrated community settings.
Supported Employment
Our supported employment program is designed to provide individualized assistance throughout the employment journey. Services may include employment discovery, résumé development, interview preparation, community-based job searching, employer engagement and networking, workplace readiness, job placement assistance, on-the-job coaching, transportation support, and ongoing follow-along services.
Our goal extends beyond helping someone obtain a job. We want the individuals we serve to develop the skills, confidence, relationships, and natural supports necessary to succeed in the workplace and experience the independence and sense of purpose that meaningful employment can provide.
Community Support Services
Our community support services are designed to complement employment and help individuals strengthen the practical skills necessary for greater independence and participation in everyday life. Support is individualized according to each person’s goals, abilities, preferences, and circumstances and may include community integration, skill development, resource navigation, transportation and accompaniment, and other person-centered supports.
Building Our Continuum of Care
As The Garlington Foundation grows, we intend to expand our programs into a broader continuum of care for individuals experiencing illness, homelessness, hardship, or significant life transitions. Our long-term plans include case coordination, recuperative care, housing-related support, and additional community-based services that help individuals move toward greater stability, wellness, and independence.
Case coordination will focus on helping individuals navigate services, resources, healthcare and community systems while establishing individualized plans that promote stability, accountability, and progress.
Recuperative care is envisioned as a restorative service for individuals who need a safe and supportive environment following hospitalization or other medical events and who may not have an appropriate setting in which to continue their recovery.
The Foundation is thoughtfully building the administrative, professional, and community partnerships necessary to support both our current programs and future expansion. Our goal is to develop each service responsibly, with the appropriate infrastructure, compliance, staffing, and partnerships in place before it is offered.
Whether we are helping an individual succeed at work today or building services that will support someone through a period of instability tomorrow, our purpose remains consistent: to meet people where they are, recognize their potential, and provide meaningful support that leads toward greater independence, stability, purpose, and belonging.
